Junior Monkeys
2 Years to 5 Years Old
We have a large area dedicated to the children aged 2-5 years. The 3-5 year olds within this group become part of the Little Monkeys Pre-School.
It includes the following:
Quiet area: We have a quiet area where the children can read stories, play with puppets, explore puzzles and engage in daily story sessions.
Art and craft area: The art and craft area is a place where creativity can be fostered and children can paint, work with playdough, draw and make things.
Sensory play area: The sensory play area allows for play with malleable resources such as sand, water and cornflour mixed with water.
Construction area: The construction area is a space for block play and construction as the children learn to build, construct and balance.
Small world area: The small world area is an area where the children can imaginatively play with a range of small models such as trains, cars, dolls houses and animal figures.
ICT area: This area has a computer with age appropriate learning resources which the children can explore as either independently or in pairs.
Role play areas: Role play is of great importance at this age. The role play areas allow the children to play collaboratively with their peers and explore their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. The areas change as the children explore different themes such as the home, shops, restaurant, vets, doctors, post office etc.
Music area: The children are able to access a range of musical instruments and engage in daily music and movement sessions, singing and instrument play.
Numeracy area: This area allows the children to hone skills in problem solving, reasoning and numeracy as they explore resources such as dominos, shape sorters and counters.
Mark making area: Within this area the children can use a variety of mark making tools such as crayons, pencils, pens and chalk to create drawings and emergent writing.
Outside Space: Our Windsor Park nursery includes a beautiful spacious outside area with a vegetable patch and our central Windsor site has a courtyard outside area and is located opposite a fabulous park with childrens playground. Both nurseries timetable daily outside play time (weather permitting). This includes picnics during the warmer summer months.
We are able to offer the following for this age group:
French Lessons: We have a French teacher who visits the nursery each week to teach groups of children basic French. This class is made fun and exciting for the children through the use of singing, props and puppets which the children adore. At this young age children are able to learn new languages quickly and with relative ease.
Gym Class: We have a dance/gym teacher visit the nursery once a week to take a gym class with the children and help them to develop coordination, balance and teamwork. This is done in a fun and relaxed environment using gym equipment developed for the particular age group and their favourite music.
Cooking Classes: Janis (one of the owners) is a qualified chef who leads cooking activities with small groups of children. This includes items to take home (cakes etc) or helping them to make their dinner, children love to feel grown up enough to make their own dinner.
Little Lions: We have a football coach who joins us from Chelsea Football Club and conducts weekly football sessions. These are held outdoors where the children have the opportunity to hone their physical skills and enjoy exercise in the fresh air.
These classes are offered at no additional cost.
